1. Click the Create… button in the main Partitions window.
NOTE: The Create… button will be grayed out if your hard disk has the maximum number of partitions (which is 31) or if the drive is not formatted as a partitioned drive.
2. The Create Partition window will appear. Type in a name for this partition. Names are limited to lengths of 1 to 27 characters and cannot contain the : (colon) character.
NOTE: You must have a name for the partition; otherwise, the Create… button will remain grayed out.
3. Type in the size, or amount of space, to be allocated to this partition. This size may be set by typing a number in the box. You can also use the scroll bar. The minimum size of a partition is 0.5 megabytes.
NOTE: Only one decimal place will be recognized for the size of a partition. If you enter "5.35" it will be truncated to "5.3".
4. Select the type of partition that you want. Normally you will want Macintosh HFS partitions, so that they can be accessed by your Macintosh. ProDOS and A/UX are explained in those topics.
5. Click the Create… button.
6. If you are creating a Macintosh HFS partition, the Partition Options window will appear. Click on the boxes next to the options that you want, and click the OK button. These options are discussed in the "Options" help topic.
NOTE: The first Macintosh HFS partition created will automatically be the Startup partition. You can later set any Macintosh HFS partition to be the startup partition.
7. The Create window will reappear. Repeat steps 2 - 6 above to create more partitions. The maximum number of partitions you can create on an UltraDrive is 31. Click the Done button when you are finished.
8. The main Partitions window will reappear. Click Done.
